A total of $3.5 million in loan funds supported expansion of the White Earth Tribal and Community College, which enrolls Native and non-Native students in various degree programs. Funds allow it to consolidate operations and add 14,475 square feet to its present location on the White Earth Reservation.
White Earth Investment Initiative and its affiliates — Midwest Minnesota Community Development Corporation and Community Development Bank — worked together with White Earth Tribal and Community College Foundation to provide a complex, comprehensive and affordable financing package that catalyzed outside as well as local investment in the community. The city of Mahnomen, Minn., contributed land in its industrial park.
This sustainably designed space supports the college’s goal of preparing successful students and future leaders in a single location. It features a new library, distance and adult basic education, study areas, student services, and faculty offices and classrooms.
