An award of $1.5 million from Yield Giving to the White Earth Investment Initiative was announced recently. Yield Giving is the private foundation established by U.S. philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.
We are thrilled by this, as it is truly a gift freely given. It comes at a critical time, as we meet matching fund requirements for current programs and develop a new strategic plan for the future. — WEII CEO Julia Nelmark
According to the Yield Giving website, the Foundation is named “after a belief in adding value by giving up control. To date, our network of staff and advisors has yielded over $17,300,000,000 to 2,300+ non-profit teams to use as they see fit for the benefit of others.”
WEII is one of several organizations in the State of Minnesota to receive a grant in 2024 – we thank the giver for honoring our work. — Audra Tonihka, WEII’s Vice President of Lending
Awardees often are chosen as the result of Yield Giving’s own research and evaluation, rather than a formalized process.
WEII is a private, nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution headquartered on the White Earth Reservation in northwest Minnesota. It provides loans, homebuyer education, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, and more to Native Communities.
