Northwest Area Foundation was the first major Foundation to provide funding, and ideas, to the White Earth Investment Initiative. They helped WEII to replicate and revise the JumpStart program, which matched quality used cars with buyers, who often purchased the cars with loans from WEII . The consumer loan program remains and has provided 1,546 loans to date. NWAF helped WEII to hire an additional member to the lending staff, now Heather Anderson, the primary contact for consumer loans.
