White Earth Investment Initiative has down-payment assistance loans of up to $5,000 available to qualifying Native American homebuyers in rural Minnesota. The loan can be used as a source of funds for all or a portion of the down-payment or closing costs that may be associated with a home purchase loan.
There are no monthly payments and no interest on the loan, but it must be repaid when the home is sold or at the maturity of the first mortgage. This second-mortgage loan is only available to qualified buyers for purchase of a home as their primary residence.
The loan is intended for use with a home purchase first mortgage from WEII or its affiliates, Midwest Minnesota Community Development Corporation or Community Development Bank. For more information on our loans, go to our Home Loans page.
Borrowers must receive a homebuyer education certificate by attending an online or in-person class prior to loan closing. For more information on obtaining education, please go to our Homeownership Services page.
