The White Earth Tax Site team celebrated their successes at the annual tax party, held June 14 at Smoke Barbeque & Brew restaurant at Shooting Star, Mahnomen.
The 2018 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site prepared and filed 403 tax returns at no charge for qualifying taxpayers. An additional 47 returns were filed through the MyFreeTaxes website, for a total of 450 returns. The average adjusted gross income per return filed on site was $29,277.
The total number of volunteer hours logged at the site, hosted by Shooting Star, was 392.
“Several of our longtime tax site volunteers have retired after 10 or more years of volunteering,” Tax Site Director Amanda Hanson said. “Before next tax season we will be looking for people who are interested in being greeters and preparers. We find that prior experience with numbers helps, but the characteristic shared by every single one of our volunteers is a dedication to serving their community. If that’s you, please join us.”
People interested in learning more about the tax site are encouraged to call Amanda at 218-844-7020.
